Kindergarten iSTEM Program
Our Kindergartners joined students at the DeMello School for the iSTEM Before School Program. Here, Kindergarten students are working on a Lego project to create an alligator that moves. First students designed a background for the alligator, then the students sorting the materials, and lastly they used an iPad to follow directions in order to build the alligator.
Canine Assisted Therapy
Cushman School welcomes Sophie!Mrs. Kathleen DeCampos, occupational therapist at the Cushman School, has implemented Canine Assisted Therapy at the Cushman School with her dog Sophie. Sophie will be used to enhance a child’s play, sensory, perceptual and motor skills during therapy sessions: Activities will address postural strength, head control, balance stability, range of motion, coordination, fine motor/dexterity skills, eye-hand coordination, crossing the midline, proprioception, vestibular,
bilateral integration, ocular motor skills, spatial concepts, following directions, self-regulation and more…
To prepare for Sophie's arrival, Veterinarian, Dr. Denise Traponi joined Mrs. DeCampos at our monthly assembly to speak to the students about how to safely approach a dog and how Sophie will be used in the school.
Math and Science Night
Math and Science Fun at Cushman!On May 4th, we held our first annual Math and Science Night. Students and families enjoyed many engaging, fun and hands-on activities ranging from STEM boxes to bubbles, life cycles, planting, and patterning.
